The Bell Jar

The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath Probably I would have given this five stars if I'd read it as an angst-ridden teenager. But I didn't and its awful self-obsession just depressed me. Flashes of brilliance, yes, but just flashes, not enough to redeem a boring read.

Marjorie Morningstar

Marjorie Morningstar - Herman Wouk Stellar read. Six-stars!

Treasure Island (Kingfisher Classics)

Treasure Island - Robert Louis Stevenson I want to be a pirate too!

Love in the Time of Cholera

Love in the Time of Cholera - Gabriel García Márquez, Edith Grossman Reading it is like living a dream and waking to remember it.

Hannibal

Hannibal - Thomas Harris The book was an ok read for the plane. Not of the gripping and page-turning quality of Silence of the Lambs.

Don't Try This At Home: Culinary Catastrophes from the World's Greatest Chefs

Don't Try This At Home: Culinary Catastrophes from the World's Greatest Chefs - Kimberly Witherspoon, Andrew Friedman Don't read this at home. A chapter or two in the library is enough. Its deadly boring, worse than a bad meal out.

Memoirs of a Geisha: A Novel

Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur Golden Fantastic story brilliantly written.

Into the Wild

Into the Wild - Jon Krakauer Excellent read. I wanted to know more about the main character and less about the author which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5.

The Da Vinci Code

The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown Good plot. Bad characters. Fast read.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven

The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom Tedious. Couldn't finish it.

The Nanny Diaries: A Novel

The Nanny Diaries - Emma McLaughlin, Nicola Kraus Massively entertaining.

The Lorax (Classic Seuss)

The Lorax - Dr. Seuss *Yawn*.
Oh The Places You'll Go was better.

The Devil Wears Prada

The Devil Wears Prada - Lauren Weisberger The film is better but I enjoyed the book as well.

1984 (Signet Classic)

1984 - George Orwell, Erich Fromm One of the best books ever. Its still the future though the title is dated.
